Environment: Congo Terminal achieves ISO 14001 certification
Congo Terminal has been awarded ISO 14001:2015 certification following an audit carried out by Bureau Veritas Certification. This certification attests to the compliance of Congo Terminal’s environmental management system with the requirements of this international standard and is a recognition that crowns the efforts and actions undertaken by the terminal over several years. It complements other certifications already obtained by Congo Terminal: ISO 9001 certification and the certificate of compliance with the ISPS Code, obtained in 2017, as well as the Green Terminal label, obtained in 2023.
Congo Terminal’s environmental management system is based, in particular, on the identification, assessment and reduction of environmental impacts, waste management, raising awareness of environmental issues (particularly regarding biodiversity), and the responsible use of resources. It also provides for the monitoring of environmental commitments and their transparent communication to stakeholders.
“This certification is not an end. It represents a step forward in the development of our environmental approach. It confirms the implementation of an environmental management system that complies with the requirements of ISO 14001 and forms part of a process of continuous improvement. The Môle Est project, currently under development, also incorporates technical solutions designed to reduce certain emissions associated with port operations,” explains Anthony SAMZUN, Managing Director of Congo Terminal.
ISO 14001 certification strengthens Congo Terminal’s ability to meet the expectations of its customers, partners and authorities. It also provides a framework for monitoring and improving its environmental practices as its activities expand, particularly with the Môle Est project, which is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2027.
