CALL FOR APPLICATIONS : SECOND COHORT OF THE OCEAN LITERACY PROGRAM (OCEAN LITERACY)
The Blue Earth Savers association, in partnership with the African Youth Sustainable Ocean Campaign (AYSOC), the Center for Blue Economy Research and Development (CBERD), the OPERA Capacity Development program, the UNESCO CIPMA Chair (International Chair in Mathematical Physics and Applications), the Gulf of Guinea Ocean Sciences Summer School (GGOSSS), and the Resilient Oceans Project, is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the second edition of its Ocean Literacy Program.
The goal of this program is to provide participants with a comprehensive and progressive understanding of the ocean, based on the conceptual framework of “Ocean Literacy” promoted by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC-UNESCO). It also has a specific goal: to help young people discover the importance of the oceans for humanity, understand major contemporary ocean issues, explore emerging careers related to the sea, and seize the opportunities offered by the blue economy.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
📍 Format: 100% online
🗓️ Duration: Tuesday, November 3, through Friday, December 11, 2026
🕕 Schedule: 2 sessions of 2 hours each per week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (UTC)
🌍 Languages: French and English
👥 Target audience: Young people, business leaders, policymakers, institutional leaders, nonprofit representatives, and engaged citizens

Module 01: OPERA Capacity Development and Ocean Literacy
Module 02: Marine Ecology, Functioning, and Importance of Marine Ecosystems
Module 03: Anthropogenic Pressures and Ocean Challenges
Module 04: Ocean-Climate: Coastal Adaptation to Climate Change
Module 05: Marine Spatial Planning and Biodiversity Conservation
Module 06: Guardians of Local Knowledge
Module 07: Climate Justice, Gender Equality, and Equity in Ocean Protection
Module 08: Digital Communication, Mobilization, and Citizen Engagement for the Ocean
Module 09: Sustainable Blue Economy: Innovation and Blue Entrepreneurship
Module 10: Marine Biotechnology and Sustainable, Inclusive, and Circular Aquaculture
Each module combines theoretical content, real-world case studies, and interactive workshops, fostering a practical and immersive learning experience.
