Cameroon: The Port Authority of Kribi Bets on the Development of an Agro-Industrial Terminal
The Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) and Kribi Oil and Grain Terminal (KOGT S.A.) signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday, 9 October 2026, for the development of a terminal dedicated to the reception, storage and transportation of agricultural and agro-industrial products.
Covering an area of 9.20 hectares, the future agro-industrial logistics platform will feature 17 silos with a total storage capacity of 102,000 tonnes. It will also include four warehouses of 5,000 m² each, quality control laboratories, as well as facilities dedicated to road transport and maintenance.
The future integrated agro-logistics platform will also benefit from access to deep-water berths, enabling it to accommodate vessels with a capacity of up to 50,000 tonnes.
Beyond the planned infrastructure, the project aims to improve the efficiency of the port logistics chain. Its objectives include streamlining supply operations, improving vessel and truck turnaround times, and helping economic operators better manage their logistics costs.
To bring this vision to fruition, three partners are contributing their respective expertise. The Port Authority of Kribi is providing its port infrastructure and available land resources. KOGT S.A., a consortium bringing together Cameroonian, Swiss and Turkish companies, is leading the industrial project. BGFIBank Cameroon, for its part, is responsible for supporting the project’s financial structuring and coordinating the funding required for its implementation.
The project is also expected to generate economic and social benefits, particularly through job creation. Between 600 and 800 jobs are anticipated during the construction phase, while approximately 200 jobs could be created once the terminal becomes operational. Additional indirect jobs could also arise from related activities.
According to the projected timeline, construction is expected to begin in 2027, with operations scheduled to commence in 2029, subject to the completion of the necessary procedures and the securing of required funding.
With this new terminal in the pipeline, Kribi Port is continuing to diversify its activities and reinforcing its ambition to become a leading port, industrial and logistics hub in Central Africa.
