Digitalization: Signing of a Strategic Partnership between the Port Autonome de Dakar and Huawei Technologies Senegal

On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the Port Autonome de Dakar (PAD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies Senegal to accelerate the automation and digitalization of the port of Dakar, leveraging innovative solutions proposed by Huawei for smart ports.

The Director General of the Port Autonome de Dakar, Mr. Waly Diouf Bodiang, accompanied by his collaborators, explored Huawei’s advanced technologies in Shenzhen during their working visit to China.

The partnership with Huawei will allow the Port of Dakar to position itself as a sub-regional logistics hub, thanks to improved connectivity and automated management of truck and container flows.

The Director General of PAD will continue his mission by visiting the ports of Tianjin and Qingdao, thus strengthening cooperation between Senegal and China.

It should be noted that this cooperation is part of a strategy to modernize port infrastructure, mentioned by the President of the Republic, H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in September 2024.
