GAMBIA PORTS AUTHORITY INAUGURATES NEW MOORING BOAT

The GPA Management has officially commissioned the newly procured mooring boat (Pushy Cat 1004) on Tuesday 17th August, 2021.

The boat which arrived in July, is a significant addition to the Authority’s craft fleet and it is named after Bijol Islands, a bird sanctuary that forms part of Tanji River Karinti Reserves, located 1.5km from Bold Cape.

The Lady Bijol Islands is a push tug purchased from Damen Shipyard in Netherlands. It is expected to offer mooring services to ships calling to Banjul Port and to render other vital services aimed at generating extra income for the Authority.

The ceremony was presided over by GPA Managing Director and attended by a representative from MoFEA, GPA Harbour Master and top officials of Harbours Department, Director of Finance, as well as the Officer Commanding, Seaport Police.
