Ghana Navy Ship PRU (GNS PRU) has participated in the 2026 Nigerian Navy International Maritime Exercise (IMEX) and Fleet Review, held at the Eko Atlantic City Waterfront in Lagos on Monday 1 June 2026.

The exercise which formed part of activities marking the 70th Anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Navy, attracted 28 ships including GNS PRU and one each from the Brazilian Navy, Ivorian Navy, Cameroonian Navy and Benin Navy respectively, to showcase military prowess.

In a single line formation, the crew of the GNS PRU, alongside other participating ships, waved their headgears and gave three hearty cheers as they sailed past the Dais where guests and dignitaries were seated.

The ships then flagged off as part of the Combined Maritime Task Force (CMTF) to commence scheduled Maritime exercises and sea patrols.

The Anniversary Celebrations also saw the commissioning of 3 new vessels acquired by the Nigerian Navy. They are the Nigeria Navy Ship (NNS) MAMBILA, NNS GURARA, and NNS OLOIBIRI.

Fleet reviews are ceremonial events where ships from a particular navy are paraded and reviewed by officials or Head of State and military dignitaries.

This year’s Nigeria Navy International Maritime Exercises and Fleet review formed part of their efforts to strengthen international collaboration and demonstrate its capabilities. It highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing maritime security and cooperation with other countries.
