GHANA – SMOPS COMMENCES RADAR PLOTTER CLASS ONE SPECIALIST QUALIFICATION COURSE
The School of Maritime Operations (SMOPS) officially commenced the Radar Plotter Class One Specialist Qualification Course at the SMOPS Auditorium, Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Nutekpor on Monday, 2 February 2026.
The programme is carefully designed to equip participants with essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills in radar plotting and interpretation. It focuses on supporting safe navigation, enhancing situational awareness, and improving decision-making during maritime operations.
Delivering the opening address, the Commanding Officer of SMOPS, Naval Captain Michael Cudjoe, warmly welcomed all participants. He emphasised the critical role of radar expertise in modern naval operations and the need for operational safety at sea.
Additionally, He urged trainees to approach the course with utmost seriousness, discipline, and active engagement. He highlighted that the skills acquired will directly contribute to greater accuracy, efficiency, and overall effectiveness in the Ghana Navy maritime missions.
This training initiative forms part of SMOPS’ ongoing commitment to building professional competence and sustaining high operational standards within the Ghana Navy. The course reinforces the service’s dedication to excellence in all aspects of maritime security and navigation.
