Historic arrival of the ship Kota Tema at the Port of Lomé
On Saturday 8 June 2024, the Port of Lomé proudly celebrated the arrival of the Kota Tema, owned by Pacific International Lines (PIL), in the presence of the Port of Lomé authorities and many influential figures from the Togolese port sector.
The Kota Tema, a 7,092 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) vessel, was chartered by PIL in April 2024 to meet the growing shipping needs of its customers. The environmentally-friendly vessel is equipped with a range of energy-efficient features that help to improve operational efficiency. In addition, it represents the largest vessel that PIL has ever deployed in Togo.
This arrival marks a significant milestone for the Port of Lomé, reinforcing its position as a vital crossroads for transhipment in West Africa.
