IOPC Funds delivers online national workshop for Ghana

At the invitation of the Ghana Maritime Authority, the IOPC Funds delivered an online national workshop on 30 April 2026 for government and oil company representatives responsible for the submission of oil reports and the payment of contributions to the organisation.

IOPC Funds Information Officer, Raymond Bayor, delivered an introduction to the role of the organisation and the legal framework governing the international liability and compensation regime for oil pollution damage. His presentation was followed by Policy Officer, Yuji Okugawa, who outlined the obligations and responsibilities of Member States in relation to oil reporting, highlighting the importance of the timely submission of oil reports to the IOPC Funds.

In the final session, which focused on contributions and financial management, Chief of Finance, Claire Montgomery, provided an in-depth presentation on contributions and the financing of the IOPC Funds.

The presentations were delivered to an engaged audience, who asked a wide range of questions. The Secretariat took the opportunity to commend Ghana for its continued support and cooperation.

Ghana has been a Member State of the 1992 Fund since 2004, having previously been a Member of the original IOPC Fund (the 1971 Fund). The country is actively represented at meetings of the governing bodies.
