Jean-Paul Fanchette appointed Harbour Master of the Seychelles Port Authority
The Board of Directors of the Seychelles Ports Authority recently announced the appointment of Captain Jean-Paul Fanchette as Harbour Master, effective August 1, 2024.
Having been appointed Deputy Harbour Master in December 2022, Captain Fanchette has worked closely with his predecessor over the past 20 months, during which time they have jointly run the Harbour Master’s Office, paving the way for Captain Fanchette to take up this new position.
Captain Fanchette holds an Honours Degree and an Ordinary Degree in Nautical Science from the Cork Institute of Technology, where he graduated with a Distinction in the former and a First Class Honours in the latter. His career began with the Seychelles Petroleum Company Ltd (SEYPEC), where he rose through the ranks on board various internationally-operating Seychelles and German tankers to the position of captain.
In December 2022, after a distinguished career at sea, he joined the Seychelles Port Authority as Deputy Harbour Master. He is widely recognised for his exemplary achievements within SEYPEC.
