LIBERIA – THE NATIONAL PORT AUTHORITY MANDATES PLUGGING OF REFRIGERATED CONTAINERS

Consistent with International Best Practice and Global Health and Safety Standards for port operators, the Management of the National Port Authority (NPA), hereby mandates that effective August 20, 2026, all Frozen Importer operating at all ports within the Republic of Liberia are mandated to plug in all refrigerated containers, immediately upon discharge.

The fees are as follows:

  1. Tier 1: (0 to 10 days) – US $89.90 per container daily;
  2. Trier 2: (11 to 15 days) – US $107.87 per container daily; &
  3. Trier 3: (16 days and above) – US $150.00 per container daily.

This mandate is aimed at recovering the additional operation & administrative costs of handling reefer containers, decongest the ports, and discourage importers from using the ports as storage facilities.

This mandate takes immediate effect.
