Maritime Governance: Liberia Retains Seat on the IMSO Advisory Committee

Liberia has retained its seat on the Advisory Committee of the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO), reaffirming its commitment to international maritime governance and maritime safety.

The appointment was confirmed on October 13, 2026, during the meeting of the Africa Regional Group held as part of the 30th Session of the IMSO Assembly, currently taking place in London, United Kingdom. Liberia also had the distinguished honor of leading the discussions of the African Group.

This renewed appointment highlights Liberia’s active participation in international maritime institutions and its commitment to strengthening maritime safety and security, as well as improving satellite communications worldwide.

As a member of the IMSO Advisory Committee, Liberia will continue to participate in policy discussions and institutional oversight activities aimed at strengthening maritime satellite communication services, particularly those essential to safeguarding human life at sea.

Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Ambassador Robert Wilmot Kpadeh, welcomed the renewed appointment, describing it as further recognition of Liberia’s active participation, leadership, and growing influence in international maritime affairs.

“Liberia remains firmly committed to promoting a safe, secure, efficient, and sustainable global maritime industry,” Ambassador Robert Wilmot Kpadeh stated.
