MEETING OF THE SECRETARY GENERAL, MOWCA DR. PAUL ADALIKWU WITH THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SIERRA LEONE MARITIME ADMINISTRATION (SMA), MR. PAUL MASSAQUOI AT THE MOWCA SECRETARIAT, ABIDJAN, COTE D’IVOIRE ON 1ST FEBRUARY, 2024

His Excellency, Dr. Paul Adalikwu, Secretary General of Maritime Organisation of West and Central Africa, (MOWCA), received Mr. Paul Massaquoi, the Executive Director, Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SMA) in company of Mr. Patrick Bro, the Director of Internal Audit SMA at the MOWCA Secretariat on the 1st February, 2024.

The meeting which witnessed a far reaching discussion at repositioning MOWCA, saw the SG highlighting action steps taken since he assumed office at bringing Member States together through effective contribution and participation at MOWCA events and activities.

He informed the guest that he has opened up partnership windows with many organisations like the African Development Bank (AfDB), African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and AFREXIMBANK who have promised to invest capital in the Regional Maritime Development Bank (RMDB). He gave a brief on the idea behind the establishment of the bank and encouraged Sierra Leone to key into the drive by signing the Bank Charter document.

Appreciative of the SG’s achievement at such a short period, the Executive Director SMA, commended him on the steps taken in raising the organization from grass to grace and pledged the full return of Sierra Leone to the organization. This, he sees as very critical in the development of the maritime industry of the sub-region as well as addressing some of the challenges of the Sierra Leone Maritime industry.
