NPWMP-WCA Women of Excellence honored at “African Ports Awards”

The “African Ports Awards” Foundation celebrated the 7th edition of the “African Ports Awards” on November 9, 2023, during the 43rd Council of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA).

This prestigious event, held at the Continental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria, marking the end of the 43rd PMAWCA Council, honored the women of the Network of Professional Women in the Maritime and Port Sectors for West and Central Africa (NPWMP-WCA).

Six outstanding women were honored in three separate categories:

– Best Women in Strategic Maritime and Port Project Management (NPWMP-WCA):

  • Mrs ESTHER GYEBI DONKOR, Director of Marketing and General Affairs at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and Immediate Past President of the RFPMP-AOC network)
  • Mrs NICOLE NESSE, member of the network’s strategic watch committee, international consultant and formerly with the Port Autonome de Douala (CAMEROON)

– Best women who have held dynamic positions in the maritime and port sector (NPWMP-WCA):

  • Mrs TOURE AISSATA ARIBOT, President of the network’s Strategic Watch Committee and former General Manager of the Port Autonome de Conakry (GUINEA)
  • Mrs Flavienne MFOUMOU ONDO, member of the network’s Strategic Watch Committee, and former Minister of Transport and Logistics of GABON.

– Best women who have contributed to the promotion of maritime and port women (NPWMP-WCA) :

  • Mrs ADANLETE LAWSON AKUELE YEVONA, Continental President of WIMAFRICA, Deputy General Coordinator of the network and Commercial Director of the Port Autonome de Lomé (TOGO)
  • Mrs FLORENTINE GUIHARD-KOIDIO, General Coordinator of the network and Head of the Information System Quality Department at the Port Autonome d’Abidjan (COTE D’IVOIRE)

The Network of Professional Women in the Maritime and Port Sectors for West and Central Africa (NPWMP-WCA) was created in January 2007 with the main aim of strengthening the capacities of its members, promoting fruitful exchanges, creating a pool of international female experts, and increasing the representation of women in the sector’s decision-making bodies.

The celebration of these exceptional women on this memorable evening testifies to the significant impact they have had on the maritime and port sector in West and Central Africa. Their determination, expertise and leadership serve as role models for future generations, helping to create a more inclusive and prosperous future for all women in the industry.
