Opening of the 41st PMAWCA annual Council meeting and the 16th Round-Table conference of Managing Directors of PMAWCA

Yesterday, Monday, November 29, 2021, was launched in Douala, Cameroon, the 41st PMAWCA annual Council meeting and the 16th Round-Table conference of Managing Directors of PMAWCA, under the central theme of port digitalization.

 

The opening ceremony was attended by several top managers of PMAWCA member ports, Dr. Louis Eboupeke, Director General of the National Port Authority (NPA) of Cameroon, Mrs. ADANLETE LAWSON Akuélé Yevona, Commercial Director of the Lomé Port Authority and new president of WIMAFRICA, port operators, specialists in the sector and many others.

The ceremony started with the welcome speech of the Mayor of the City of Douala, followed by the speech of the DG of the Douala Port Authority and Chairman of the Round Table, the speech of the Secretary General of PMAWCA and DG of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), etc.

 

During his speech, Mr. Michael Luguje, Secretary General of PMAWCA and Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), asked that a minute of silence be observed in honor of Mrs. Geneviève BEHANZIN, Founder and Director of Challenge Communication, who passed away on November 20, 2021 in Abidjan.

Several works of the 16th Round-Table conference of Managing Directors took place during the whole day. The meeting will end on December 2, 2021.

It will be recalled that the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA) is a sub-regional intergovernmental economic organization, composed of twenty four (24) regular member Ports , eight (8) associate members including landlocked Countries and Maritime Organisations, all located along the West Coast of the Africa Continent Stretching from Mauritania to Angola. PMAWCA was established in October 1972 under the auspices of the Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and it covers the seaports located along the West Coast of Africa including Mauritania and Angola.
