President Barrow Reviews Progress with Alport
His Excellency President Adama Barrow yesterday visited Banjul Port to receive firsthand information on the progress made since Alport took over.
The Managing Director of Alport, Mr. Salih Levent Kacar, accompanied President Barrow and his entourage on a tour, highlighting the significant improvements in Banjul Port’s operational efficiency.
During the inspection, the President visited the newly constructed port terminal which has a capacity of 1,200 containers.
Additionally, previously flooded areas have been redressed and water control systems upgraded.
Mr. Salih noted that 2025 marked a major milestone for Banjul Port with the facility welcoming larger ships and high volume cargo with ease. These actions have enhanced regional competitiveness, positioning The Gambia as a key player in West African trade.
President Barrow’s conviction in the slogan “No Infrastructure, No Development” is driving The Gambia’s transformation as the port is expected to boost the economy and improve the country’s trade competitiveness.
