RMIFC participation in the regional workshop on the regional cooperation mechanism and the findings of the feasibility study on the setting-up of regional equipment depot
The Regional Maritime Information Fusion Center contributed towards the development of a regional marine pollution incident prevention, preparedness, response and cooperation in the context of the operationalization of the Regional Maritime Security Architecture (RMSA).
The meeting was organized by the Indian Ocean Commission in collaboration with the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) and supported by the European Union (EU).
The workshop was held at the Docks, in Port Louis Mauritius from 16th to 18th September 2024. The main agenda of the meeting was to evaluate available MARPOL equipment by regional States and partners, as well as the development of a regional depot and a strategy for marine salvage operations.
The RMIFC also played an active role in identifying a strategy for the setting up of a risk management observatory at the Centre that will enhance data collection and enable monitoring of all risk areas prone to marine pollution for effective counter-measures.
