Strengthening Aquaculture Collaboration in Ghana

The Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Emelia Arthur, on behalf of its member company, De Heus Animal Nutrition Ghana, to deepen partnerships within the aquaculture sector this week.

Led by senior representatives of De Heus, discussions centered on critical industry issues including access to quality fish feed, fingerlings, and stronger support systems for fish farmers nationwide.

De Heus reaffirmed its commitment to Ghana’s aquaculture growth through the supply of high-quality fish feed and technical advisory services, encouraging farmers to adopt full production cycles and add value to catfish production for greater profitability and sustainability.

Hon. Emelia Arthur welcomed the delegation, highlighting the importance of stronger collaboration between government and the private sector. Key areas for cooperation identified include structured farmer training, capacity-building programmes, and enhanced technical support services to boost productivity and resilience.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to advocating for policies and partnerships that directly address the needs of fish farmers, while the Chamber emphasized that such engagements form part of its broader mandate to strengthen industry collaboration and promote constructive policy dialogue.
