After entering the prestigious Lloyd’s List of the world’s best performing ports in terms of container traffic last year, the Port of Lome gained two more points this year, moving from 98th to 96th place.

With 1,962,304 TEUs handled in 2021 compared to 1,725,270 in 2020, the port of Lomé maintains its fourth place in Africa after Tangier Med (Morocco), Port Said (Egypt) and the Port of Durban (South Africa).

It should be noted that the Port of Alexandria in Egypt, which ranked 99th last year, has dropped out of the rankings altogether this year and the Port of Durban has dropped 9 places from 72nd to 81st.

With its performance this year, the Port of Lomé will surely keep a place in the Lloyd’s List Top 100 next year.
