The Ivorian Council of Ministers, which was held on Tuesday 6 September 2022, adopted a decree authorising the modification of the statutes of the state company called San Pedro Port Authority.

This modification, as provided for, entrusts the San Pedro Port Authority with the performance of operations related to port activities in its area of competence, including the management of the dockers’ workforce and its use by handling or transit companies, in accordance with Decree No. 2019-102 of 30 January 2019 on the special status of dockers in Côte d’Ivoire.

The San Pedro Port Authority, which is in charge of all port functions including operations, ship services, maintenance, renewal and extension of port infrastructures in San Pedro, now has the management of the dockers’ workforce. This is a further step towards “making the Port of San Pedro a geostrategic development pole for Côte d’Ivoire and a driver of regional integration, with terminals operated under a public-private partnership (PPP) by 2035“.
