Hon Sekou A. M. Dukuly bags another award from the Women in Maritime for West and Central Africa, as Liberia’s ports infrastructure improve

The Managing Director of the National Port Authority Hon. Sekou A.M. Dukuly has received an extra-ordinary Award for what the Women in Maritime for West and Central Africa described as revolutionary reforms and measurable national impact within the maritime sector.

The Award was presented to Hon. Dukuly at this year’s 2026 program marking the celebration of International Day for Women in Maritime organized by Women in Maritime for West and Central Africa (WIMOWCA) Liberia Chapter, on the theme global theme, “From Policy to Practice: Advancing Gender Equality for Maritime Excellence,” and the national theme, “Empowering Liberian Women to Navigate Maritime Excellence, “ held at the Monrovia city Hall in collaboration with the National Port Authority (NPA), Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA), National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA), Liberia International Ship and Corporate Registry (LISCR), National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), and other partners.

Making the presentation, the President of Women in Maritime for West and Central Africa (WIMOWCA), Mrs. Olivia Johnson said Hon Dukuly’s unwavering commitment to transforming Liberia’s maritime sector into a beacon of efficiency, transparency, and international relevance is a testament of his leadership and hard work over the past years.

Mrs. Johnson emphasized that Hon. Dukuly’s willingness to provide opportunity to over Fifteen female staff members of the NPA to participated in a specialized training under the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa at the Port Autonome d’Abidjan and place many in senior leadership roles, underscored his commitment to gender inclusivity and professional development.

Receiving the Award on behalf of the NPA Managing Director Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly, the Executive Director of Public Relations, Pewee Baysah expressed Hon. Dukuly’s profound gratitude to the Women in Maritime for recognizing him for the progress recorded at the NPA which reflects a shift toward results oriented governance and institutional discipline across Liberia’s public service landscape.

Mr. Baysah said the achievements under Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly’s leadership reflect a strategic alignment with international standards and a vision for sustainable development. Through capacity building, infrastructure modernization, global partnerships, and operational efficiency, the NPA has not only bolstered its domestic significance but also positioned Liberia as a rising star in the global maritime industry.
