Liberia – NPA Congratulates LRA on US$1 Billion Revenue Milestone, Highlights Ports’ Investment That Contributed to Increased Customs Collection

The National Port Authority (NPA) congratulates the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) on the historic achievement of US$1 billion in domestic revenue. Approximately US$215 million of that amount was collected through customs at Liberia’s ports. The NPA is proud to have contributed to this national milestone by investing in and co-financing the operating environment that enables customs officers to collect government revenue.

NPA’s investments in 24-hour port operations, faster gate services and improved truck turnaround times have created a more efficient environment for customs operations and revenue collection. These improvements reflect the Authority’s broader commitment to keeping Liberia’s ports open, efficient and responsive.

“I congratulate NPA employee who worked around the clock to keep our ports operating and to support customs officers in collecting government revenue. Your commitment, together with the dedication of the LRA and other port stakeholders, demonstrates what strong coordination and efficient port operations can contribute to revenue growth,” NPA Managing Director Sekou A. M. Dukuly said in a message to employees.

Looking ahead, the NPA believes Liberia’s growing economy has outpaced the capacity of existing port infrastructure. While the Authority remains committed to financing and improving the operating environment for customs, it is equally convinced that additional investment in port expansion, modernization and efficiency can increase trade volumes, strengthen customs collection and push domestic revenue significantly beyond current expectations over the next two years.
