Additional 2.570 billion CFA for the rehabilitation of Mole 3 at the Port of Dakar

Japan, in an agreement signed on June 21 by the Senegalese Minister of Economy, Amadou Hott, and the Japanese Ambassador to Senegal, Arai Tatsuo, made an additional extension of 2.570 billion FCFA, to take charge of the rehabilitation works of the Mole 3 of the Port of Dakar, suspended for months.

With this new signature, Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), now totals 21.935 billion FCFA non-refundable grant, to this project which according to Mr. Tatsuo ” … will expand and facilitate logistics for Mali, while contributing to the sustainable growth of Senegal and strengthen connectivity.

Indeed, this modernization project, in progress since July 4, 2019, includes the rehabilitation of the medians and traffic lanes, as well as the construction of a 350-meter long sheet-pile quay. It will allow this part of the Port of Dakar to accommodate ships of 190 m in length or with a capacity of around 35,000 tons.
