Conakry to host the 44th PMAWCA Annual Council Meeting from 18 to 21 November 2024

From November 18 to 21, 2024, Guinea’s capital will host the 44th PMAWCA Annual Council Meeting & 19th Managing Directors Round Table Conference, bringing together representatives from 20 countries and 24 ports in the region.

The event, to be held at Chapiteau by Issa in Conakry, will gather managing directors from 24 ports across 20 countries, alongside public decision-makers and maritime infrastructure experts, to address key challenges and opportunities in the African port sector.

Under the theme “Optimizing Hinterland Connectivity: Challenges of Connectivity, Flexibility, and Reliability” this edition aims to strengthen the capabilities of PMAWCA member ports and encourage regional synergies, in a context where accelerating port investments in Africa require modern and resilient infrastructure.

A Crucial Event for Port Development in Africa

With nearly 10,000 billion FCFA invested over the past decade, ports in the region continue to improve their infrastructure to meet the requirements of high-capacity vessels and international logistics chains. This event provides sector stakeholders with a dialogue platform to identify concrete solutions to the challenges of optimizing hinterland service, which is vital for regional trade.

Program Highlights

The 19th Managing Directors Round Table Conference, scheduled for November 18 and 19, will provide an opportunity to exchange best practices for strengthening the resilience and attractiveness of African ports. Specialized workshops, thematic round tables, and networking sessions will enable experience sharing and strengthen regional collaborations.

A Strategic Opportunity for the Port Autonome de Conakry

By hosting this Annual Council, the Port Autonome de Conakry affirms its ambition to become a sub-regional hub for maritime trade in West Africa. This event also reinforces Conakry’s position as a privileged gateway to the Guinean hinterland and beyond, highlighting recent initiatives to modernize and develop the port.

A gala dinner will be held at the Palm Camayenne Hotel to celebrate the event, providing a prestigious setting to foster exchanges and establish new partnerships among participants.
