Congo: Africa Global Logistics takes part in the REF and announces an investment of almost one billion euros in the port of Pointe-Noire for the period 2009-2027
On 26 June 2025, at the Meeting of French-speaking Businessmen (REF) held in Brazzaville, Africa Global Logistics (AGL) announced an investment of nearly one billion euros in the port of Pointe-Noire for the period 2009-2027. More than 3,000 people attended this forum for dialogue and exchange to stimulate business opportunities and partnerships with a focus on increasing investment in a country committed to diversifying its economy.
Congo Terminal, an AGL subsidiary, has transformed the Pointe-Noire port hub through major investments of €450 million in infrastructure, team training and the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment. As a result, volumes handled have risen from 200,000 TEU in 2009 to more than one million TEU in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
To support the growth in trade and strengthen its strategic role, the company is developing a new terminal at the Mole East, which will come into service in 2027 and, with a 750m quay at a depth of 17m, will be able to accommodate the largest ships in the world.
“Increased volumes will mean better connectivity, more frequent stopovers and lower costs. Our Group is investing in road, rail and river transport, including in Congo. The total amount of our investments has tripled since 2022. By 2027, AGL will have invested a total of nearly one billion euros in the port of Pointe Noire,” explains Philippe Labonne, Chairman and CEO of AGL.
Africa Global Logistics is committed to the development of African trade, both intra-African and between Africa and the rest of the world. Thanks to its expertise and presence in 47 countries across the continent, the company can structure and facilitate the routing and distribution of products in Africa and around the world. Its 3 Congolese subsidiaries employ a total of almost 1,600 people, not including the Mole East project, which will create 900 additional permanent jobs for young Congolese people, further supporting the economic growth of the country and the sub-region.
