Decongestion of the port of Abidjan: MCC gives port authority an update
On Monday, November 13, 2023, a delegation from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), led by Mr. Zaidoon KHOURI, Director of Finance, Investment and Trade (FIT) made a working visit to the Port Autonome d’Abidjan (PAA). The aim of the visit was to provide the Abidjan Port Authority with an update on the progress of projects to relieve congestion and increase fluidity in the port area.
The MCC delegation presented the progress of work on the Office Ivoirien des Chargeurs (OIC) parking lot, and the next steps in the implementation of various projects on the Abidjan port platform.
The delegation said that work on the OIC parking lot was nearing completion, and that all that remained to be done was to connect it to the electricity and water supply networks, before handover, scheduled for the end of November 2023.
As for the refurbishment of the Boulevard du Port pavement, the delegation pointed out that the start of the work depended on the OIC parking lot becoming operational. As a result, the project should be launched in December.
PAA Managing Director Hien Yacouba SIÉ underlined the Port Authority’s interest in these projects, which have a proven impact on the activity and competitiveness of the Port of Abidjan, as well as on the national economy. He called for their implementation to be speeded up, within a framework agreed with all stakeholders.
