The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Communication Routes and Disenclavement, Jean-Pierre Bemba, conducted an inspection visit on Friday, August 7, 2026, to the new Kalemie Industrial Port, located in MTOA, in Tanganyika Province.
Accompanied by Tanganyika Province Deputy Governor Isidore Kabwe Longo, as well as several provincial ministers, Jean-Pierre Bemba visited the construction site to assess the progress of the works.
Following the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the project. However, he urged those in charge to maintain the current pace of work in order to meet the established construction schedule.
The project includes dredging works, the construction of berths, warehouses, administrative buildings, and various logistics infrastructure required for the operation of the port.
The construction of this industrial port is being carried out under a public-private partnership between the Congolese State and a consortium comprising Jintai Mining PTE Ltd and Tembo Majengo Company SARL. The project is being led by Golden Lake Logistics SARL.
This infrastructure represents a strategic project for the development of economic and logistics activities in Tanganyika Province. It is also part of the vision of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, who places the development of transport infrastructure at the heart of efforts to improve access to the provinces, strengthen economic competitiveness, and enhance connectivity across the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
