ECOWAS Advances Regional Connectivity with Praia-Dakar Maritime Transport Workshop

On Wednesday 7 August 2024, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) began a key workshop to validate the plans for the Praia-Dakar shipping line, part of the Praia-Dakar-Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Transport Project.

Representatives from the Cabo Verdian Ministry of Culture, Creative Industries, and the Sea are attending to boost regional connectivity and economic integration.

A technical field visit to the Port of Praia was conducted to assess essential infrastructure and facilities. This included a review of port operations, storage capacities, and logistical frameworks crucial for the Praia-Dakar shipping line. Findings will aid in developing the broader Praia-Dakar-Abidjan Corridor, aiming for a more affordable and efficient transport network.

This initiative is expected to enhance trade, tourism, and movement within ECOWAS, connecting the region’s 400 million people and promoting economic integration.
