Egyptian Navy takes command of Combined Task Force (CTF) 153

On Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, in a ceremony in Bahrain, the Egyptian Navy assumed command of Combined Task Force (CTF) 153, the fourth task force of the Combined Maritime Force (CMF).

Captain Robert Francis, U.S. Navy, who established Combined Task Force (CTF) 153 in April, handed over command to Admiral Mahmoud Abdelsattar, Egyptian Navy.

“I am incredibly proud of our efforts since launching this new task force only eight months ago,” said Francis. “It is a true honor to hand over command to an incredibly strong regional maritime partner like Egypt. I know the task force will continue to execute as one dynamic team, and I will always be celebrating their accomplishments from afar.”

“It is my honor to serve as commander of Combined Task force 153,” said Admiral Mahmoud. “The focus of my efforts will be to work closely together with regional countries, partners, and participating nations to maintain maritime security and stability in the region.”

Noted that the Combined Task Force (CTF) 153, was established on 17 April 2022, to enhance international maritime security and capacity building efforts in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb and Gulf of Aden.
