GMA Inaugurates 3rd Audit Committee to Bolster Transparency and Governance

The Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) has inaugurated its Third Audit Committee, signaling a reinforced commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in corporate governance.

The ceremony, held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Authority’s Head Office, marked the official transition from the second audit team to the third.

The Audit Committee is a statutory requirement designed to provide independent oversight of the Authority’s financial reporting and internal control systems.

New Committee
The newly constituted committee is chaired by Anthony Baidoo of the Internal Audit Agency.
Joining him are Philomena Adjaye-Gyamfi and Juliet Opoku-Manu, both representing the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG).

Other members include Dr Eric Cobbinah and Richard Fidieley, representing the Ghana Maritime Authority Board, with Maritha Soum Adaare of the GMA serving as Secretary.

Providing technical support for the committee includes the Acting Director of Finance at the GMA, Anthony Ndor Mba, and the Acting Head of Audit, Peniel Martey Mensah.

Diligent Review
The Deputy Director, Project Monitoring and Coordinating Unit at the Internal Audit Agency, Alhassan Fuseini who represented the Director General of the Agency commended the outgoing team for setting high performance standards.

He reminded the new members of their mandatory statutory roles, emphasizing that their success depends on the diligent review of management reports and the rigorous monitoring of all activities with financial implications.

GMA Management
The Director-General of the GMA, Dr. Kamal-Deen Ali (Naval Captain, Rtd), credited the dedication of the outgoing Committee as a key pillar in enhancing the Authority’s operational and financial integrity. He urged the new members to maintain this momentum and assured them of management’s full cooperation in helping the Authority deliver on its core mandate.

Accepting the charge on behalf of the team, the newly elected Chair, Anthony Baidoo, expressed his readiness to serve. He assured Management of the committee’s commitment to effective teamwork and professional collaboration to ensure the GMA’s continued success.
