GPA LAUNCHES TENDER FOR THE NEW JETTY EXTENSION AT THE PORT OF BANJUL

The GPA recently launched a call for proposal for pre-qualification of construction contractors for New Jetty Extension at the Port of Banjul as one of the urgent components of the Fourth Banjul Port Expansion Project identified in the Port Masterplan 2019-2038. It is aimed at extending the Jetty by 345 meters northwards of its present location as part of the infrastructure improvement projects recommended by the Masterplan prepared by Royal Haskoning of the Netherlands.

The implementation of this project will address the increased demand posed on the port facility as a result of the growth in volume. It is expected that the increased ships accommodation capacity will improve port performance to meet customer expectation and address the congestion which is causing ships stay in port to be longer than desirable.
