Launch of a Strategic Project for the Fisheries Sector in Guinea
On Wednesday 17 July 2024, the Guinean government, via the Ministry of Fisheries and the Maritime Economy, launched a project entitled ‘Support for the implementation of the Fisheries Strategic Plan for the sustainable development of the fisheries sector and its contribution to the country’s food security and economic development.’
Funded to the tune of $150,000 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), this project aims to build the capacity of stakeholders in food and nutritional security, and to formulate and implement bankable projects.
The project will result in the operationalisation of an action plan and the development of a strategy for mobilising the resources needed to implement and monitor Guinea’s strategic fisheries plan. By strengthening local capacities, this initiative will help to improve food security and stimulate the country’s economic development.
This initiative demonstrates the Guinean government’s commitment to providing the population with quality fish products.
