Marsa Maroc and the National Port Authority of Liberia announce the signing of a management contract at the port of Monrovia, Liberia
• Marsa Maroc and the National Port Authority of Liberia have signed a management contract for the operation of two jetties at the Freeport of Monrovia.
• This partnership represents a first step toward a strategic collaboration, paving the way for a future concession of a multipurpose terminal at the port of Monrovia.
• This agreement is part of a shared ambition to modernize and enhance the development of Liberia’s port infrastructure.
Following an international call for tenders, Marsa Maroc was awarded a management contract on behalf of the National Port Authority of Liberia. Under this agreement, Marsa Maroc, through its subsidiary Marsa Maroc International Logistics (MMIL), will carry out rehabilitation works, deploy port equipment, and provide its expertise in bulk handling to operate two jetties at the port of Monrovia. The project is scheduled to enter into gradual service starting in the first half of 2026.
This management contract represents the first step in a strategic partnership aimed, in a second phase, at concluding a concession agreement for the development and operation of a new multipurpose terminal at the port of Monrovia that plays a pivotal role in Liberia’s port landscape. As the country’s main deep-water port, it handles the majority of import and export flows, making it the essential maritime gateway for the Liberian economy.
This project will significantly enhance the operational performance of the port of Monrovia and strengthen Liberia’s port and logistics competitiveness, contributing directly to the country’s economic development.
The partnership is aligned with a shared long-term vision between Marsa Maroc and the National Port Authority of Liberia, combining Marsa Maroc’s operational expertise with the port authority’s strategic leadership to modernize and energize the country’s port infrastructure.
