Marsa Maroc, successful bidder for the delegated management of Terminals 1 and 5 at the Port of Cotonou, Benin
Marsa Maroc, leader in port operations in Morocco, has been awarded the delegated management of Terminals 1 and 5 of the Port of Cotonou, Benin, following an international selection procedure conducted by Bénin Manutentions S.A, a new semi-public company whose capital is held by the State of Benin represented by the Caisse de Dépôt et des Consignations du Bénin and private Beninese investors.
A delegated management agreement will be signed shortly between the two parties. Bénin Manutentions S.A. will be supported by Marsa Maroc to ensure that operations at the two terminals are handled efficiently and rapidly.
Marsa Maroc will draw on its expertise and relations with the main international shipping companies to position Bénin Manutentions S.A as an efficient operator that contributes to the development of logistics corridors in the region. Marsa Maroc will also ensure that the terminals are put into operation on time and in accordance with international standards, and that a number of modernisation projects are implemented in line with the Beninese government’s vision.
Marsa Maroc and Bénin Manutentions S.A will work together to create economic value for the entire Beninese port ecosystem.
It should be noted that this partnership is part of the South-South cooperation strategy, under the impetus of the High Royal Directions.
