MELSMORE, MWUN SIGN COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT FOR WORKERS

The management of Melsmore Marine Limited, situated in Victoria Island, Lagos, has signed into a workbook of its operation with the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria, Monday this week. The leadership of Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), under Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, during the dotting of the lines, the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) of Melsmore Workers, who are bonafide members of the Union, says this is a landmark achievement for both management of Melsmore Ltd and the leadership of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria.

He further buttressed his disposition that no good industrial firm will neglect the welfare of its workers, and moral ethics of its status quo. The foremost Maritime Labour leader and Veteran Sailor, Comrade Bunu, described the Management of Melsmore Ltd as one outfit in the maritime sector in Nigeria which understands the industrial working pace, knowing full well that workers deserve a good welfare, which is very important and that’s the only way any industrial company can achieve optimum output, because when the workers are happy the employers growth is also assured.

Comrade Bunu assured the Management of Melsmore a continuous harmonious relationship in the maritime industry, having increased the remuneration of its workers to a living wage, by putting into consideration the living standard of Nigerians currently, which the management said was to uplift the spirit and output of the Union workers in its employ. He thanked the management of Melsmore for giving a listening ear to the Union, which has eventually resulted into this harmonious development, believing that this mutual understanding will continue to flourish as partners in progress in the maritime sector.
