As part of its deployment on the West African coast and the Gulf of Guinea, the Spanish ship ESPS “Audaz” docked at the Douala Autonomous Sea Port on March 19, 2023 to foster military cooperation in maritime surveillance and support the external actions of the State at sea.
On arrival at the Douala sea port, the Spanish delegation was received by the Spanish Ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency Ignacio García Lumbreras, who boarded the ESPS vessel “Audaz” with the corresponding regulatory honours.
During the four days spent at the Douala sea port, Cameroon benefited from the expertise of the Spanish ship’s crew in the area of maritime security capacity building, with the common objective of having a safe and threat-free maritime space.
In addition, the Commander and his delegation, had the opportunity to learn about the ways in which Cameroon contributes to the Yaounde Architecture dedicated to Regional maritime safety and security.
It is worthy to note that, the Cameroon besides hosting the Inter-regional Centre for the Gulf of Guinea Maritime Safety and Security Strategy, plays a leading role in “Zone D”.
During their stay in the country, the crew of the ESPS “Audaz” visited two schools, a dispensary and a hostel in the Littoral Region. They provided material support and technical assistance in the fields of carpentry and electricity.
This visit ended with a tete a tete between the Cameroonian administrative and military authorities and the Spanish delegation. All to consolidate the diplomatic and defence relationship binding the two Countries.
