Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy Receives Brand New 38-Seater Ferry
The Bayelsa State Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy has announced the arrival of a brand new 38-seater passenger ferry as part of ongoing efforts by the Prosperity Administration to strengthen marine transport in the state.
Speaking to newsmen in Yenagoa, the Honourable Commissioner, Dr. Faith Izibenua Zibs-Godwin, disclosed that the brand new ferry is in addition to the first batch of rehabilitated marine fleets already deployed, with more expected in the coming weeks.
Dr. Zibs-Godwin commended His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, for his unwavering commitment to modernizing the state’s marine transport system and ensuring safer, more efficient means of travel for Bayelsans.
She further stated that the new ferry will enhance economic activities, improve connectivity between riverine communities, and significantly raise safety standards on the State’s waterways, while reducing reliance on outdated vessels.
The Honourable Commissioner assured that the Ministry remains resolute in its mandate to deliver a modern, sustainable, and inclusive marine transport system, in line with the Prosperity Administration’s vision for accelerated development of Bayelsa State’s marine and blue economy sector.
