NIGERIA – MARITIME DEVELOPMENT: CABOTAGE IMPLEMENTATION IS A PRIORITY — NIMASA DG
Nigerian Maritime Administration & Safety Agency (NIMASA) DG/CEO, Dr Dayo Mobereola, has reaffirmed that developing indigenous capacity under Nigeria’s Cabotage regime remains a priority.
During a tour of Marine Platforms Limited’s African Pioneer, a Nigerian-flagged 8,000-tonne Diving Support Vessel, he said: “Vessels such as this flying the Nigerian flag should have priority over any foreign vessel.”
Dr Mobereola added that NIMASA is automating the Nigerian Ship Registry to make it more attractive and encourage more vessels to fly the Nigerian flag.
The CEO of Marine Platforms Limited, Mr Taofeek Adegbite, acknowledged the company’s benefits from the Cabotage regime and expressed pride in flying the Nigerian flag.
