Seychelles Participates in IMO Council Elections and Strengthens Bilateral Cooperation with Saudi Arabia

Seychelles has concluded a productive engagement at the 33rd Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly, held at the IMO Headquarters in London, United Kingdom, where Member States elected the new IMO Council for the 2027–2029 term. The Minister for Transport, Ports and Civil Aviation, Ms. Veronique Laporte, led the Seychelles delegation and cast the nation’s ballot for the Categories.

She was accompanied by CEO of the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority (SMSA); Captain Daniel Adam, and Seychelles’ Permanent Representative based in United Kingdom, Ms. Patsy Moustache.

On the margins of the Assembly, Minister Laporte held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Saleh Bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The two Ministers discussed strengthening cooperation between the two nations and both Ministers reiterated their commitment to deepening their partnership. Seychelles also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s continued support for IMO initiatives and programmes.
