Signing ceremony of a maritime agreement between Guinea and Sierra Leone

On Friday 7th April 2023, the signing ceremony of a maritime agreement between Guinea and Sierra Leone was held at the Primus Hotel in Kaloum in a pleasant and diplomatic atmosphere by the Guinean Minister of Transport, Mr. Felix LAMAH and his counterpart, the Honorable Kabineh KALON, Minister of Transport and Aviation of Sierra Leone.

In his speech, Mr. Felix LAMAH welcomed the signing of this agreement which further strengthens the axis of cooperation between the two countries and then outlined the significant progress that has been made in recent times in the maritime domain between Guinea and Sierra Leone while recalling the objectives of the signing of this maritime agreement.

The objective of this agreement is to promote economic relations through trade between the two countries but also to strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood. It will also enable economic operators to transport their goods and merchandise in complete safety, increase the axes of cooperation between the ports of the two countries and thus develop the maritime transport sector from the Conakry-Freetown link.

Furthermore, Mr. Felix LAMAH requested the commitment of the different parties to cooperate in order to eliminate all obstacles that could hinder the development of navigation in order to facilitate and accompany any project of exploitation of direct line between the ports of the two capitals.
