Signing of the contract for the extension of the basin and renovation of the northern quays of the Port of Cotonou
On Monday, July 25, 2022, the Director General of the Cotonou Port Authority, Mr. Joris THYS proceeded to the signature of the contract for the extension of the basin and the renovation of the northern quays, in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructures and Transport, Mr. Hervé Yves HEHOMEY and representatives of the Eiffage, Spie Batignolles and ADEOTI SARL group in charge of executing the works.
With an investment of more than 106 billion FCFA, this project of extension of the basin and renovation of the northern quays of the Port of Cotonou is part of the six (06) value-added projects contained in the Master Plan 2021-2025 of the Cotonou Port Authority.
This project (2) will participate in the modernization of the northern quay; with the dredging and extension of the port basin of 154 m to the west.
The works include:
- The development of a second container concession on the North quay of 36 ha and with a quay depth of -15 m ;
- Enlargement of the existing container concession on the South quay, and redevelopment to 36 ha also with a quay depth of -15m ;
- Renewal of the Public Quay in Terminal 1: RoRo, Bulk and general cargo.
It should be noted that the project will eventually increase the operational capacities of the operating companies, and will make it possible to accommodate ships of 350 m in length and 45 m in width.
