Strengthening cooperation between Guinea and Russia in the fisheries sector

Fishing industry leaders in Guinea Conakry and Russia recently pledged to strengthen their collaboration to promote the sustainable development of Guinea’s fishing industry and maritime economy.

This strategic partnership is based on a number of key areas, including the modernisation of infrastructure and equipment, technical assistance in research, technology transfer and management training.

There are many expectations associated with this collaboration, including the creation of new jobs in the seafaring industry, the strengthening of sustainable fisheries management capacities, and the improvement of food security and the sector’s added value to the economy.

To implement this new partnership, a joint action plan will shortly be drawn up, together with priority projects to promote the sustainable exploitation of marine resources.
