Tanzania Ports Authority signs Memorandum of Understanding with Africa Global Logistics Company

The Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Tanzania Ltd, headquartered in France, which is a subsidiary of MSC, for the design, construction, and operation of three new berths at Bagamoyo Port.

This MoU was signed on 6th December 2025 at TPA Headquarters in Dar es Salaam between TPA’s Director General, Mr. Plasduce Mbossa, and AGL’s President, Philippe Labonne.

Mr. Mbossa stated that the signing of the MoU is a sign of readiness to commence the Bagamoyo Port project, where initially AGL will begin the design and construction of three modern berths out of the 28 planned for the port, along with two new modern berths at Dar es Salaam Port.

For his part, AGL President Mr. Philippe Labonne said they decided to enter into an agreement with TPA and invest in Tanzania due to the country’s peace, security, and favorable, stable investment environment, as well as its strategic geographic position in the transport sector and as a gateway for domestic and international trade.

The Bagamoyo Port project, involving the construction of three new berths, will be designed and built over 36 months (three years). AGL has secured this opportunity to collaborate with TPA in the construction due to their experience as a major shipping and logistics company, offering comprehensive transport services, cargo management, international shipping, and customs services, as part of the global AGL group (formerly Bolloré T&L) and now under MSC.
