This webinar, to be held on Monday, August 24, 2020, is organized by Margareth Galho with the support of Margareth Galho & Associados, Academia Portuaria de Luanda and WIMAFRICA.
Margareth Galho, is an Angolan lawyer specializing in maritime and sea law. She is the General Manager of Margareth Galho & Associados and the founder and Director of the seminar. She is the author of “the West Africa Maritime Boundaries” and “Quasi bandeiras de convenência”. Margareth Galho is President of WISTANGOLA – Women in international Trade Association and member of WIMA, International Bar Association, Vice-president of two international networks and Member of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea Alumni. She was an invited Lecturer at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in 2019 on “The ship arrest and release practice in Angola and other 149 jurisdictions”.
Margareth Galho & Associados, is a law firm based in Luanda, Angola since 2015. The firm works with international and domestic clients in the field of litigation, internal organizations, direct negotiation and arbitration.
The Academia Portuaria de Luanda is a centre of excellence for the training of executive, administrative and operational executives of port companies and concessionaires. It is an organic service of the Empresa Portuária de Luanda-E.P., autonomous in administrative, financial and commercial management, in charge of vocational training, advice, studies and research, in order to raise the quality of the service provision of the national harbour enterprises as well as the companies dedicated to the supply of services to the harbour industry.
WIMAFRICA for “WOMEN IN MARITIME IN AFRICA” is a non-profit organisation designed to answer the call of gender equality, women empowerment as well as to establish a cooperation of entrepreneurship development of African women in the maritime sector. The organisation is currently comprised of members from Twenty-Two (22) African Countries such as Togo, Angola, South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Ghana, Niger Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Nigeria to mention a few. WIMAFRICA is made up of professional women, leaders and maritime entrepreneurs throughout the African maritime sector (and related areas) from all countries and from various regions and sub-regions of the continent. The objectives of the Association include cooperation in capacity building, training, education, development of entrepreneurial projects in order to contribute effectively to global efforts, economic empowerment, women’s representation and leadership in the blue economy.
The 2nd Maritime Seminar “Legal and Technical Aspects of the Maritime Industry and the Law of the Sea” is therefore a great opportunity to learn more about the legal and technical aspects of the maritime industry and the law of the sea.
