GUINEA CONAKRY: NATIONAL NAVY ARRACKS SHIP WITH 1,572 kg OF COCAINE

On Sunday 02 April 2023, at 1:40 am, the floating unit brigade of the Guinean National Navy apprehended a vessel flying the Sierra Leonean flag in Guinean waters.

The vessel named “IMAN 1” contained in its hold, a large quantity of cocaine: 62 bags of 25kg each and another of 22kg for a total weight of 1,572kg.

The ship’s crew is composed of 10 members including 4 Sierra Leoneans, 3 Ghanaians and 3 Guineans.

This latest successful haul by the Maritime Staff took place during one of its ongoing surveillance missions in the Guinean maritime territory.

As required by Guinean law, the 1,572 kg of cocaine and the 10 crew members of the vessel were officially handed over to the prosecutor of the First Instance Court of Kaloum. And investigations are underway.
