Across more than 38 African coastal countries, women and men work daily to develop the blue economy of our continent. Some are in the spotlight, others work in the shadows, but all share a common vision: that of a prosperous and sustainable maritime Africa. The African blue economy is a strategic pillar for the sustainable development of the continent, relying on vast marine and coastal resources with immense potential.
Every day, these visionary actors are committed to transforming this vision into reality through concrete actions, innovations, and ambitious policies.
The Maritimafrica List 2024 was born from the desire to highlight these changemakers. It aims to spotlight individuals, whether well-known or not, who, through their daily work, have had a significant impact on the blue economy in their country and/or on the continent in general during the period of 2023-2024.
Whether they are institutional leaders, passionate professionals, or staunch advocates for environmental sustainability, each plays an essential role in building the “Blue” future of our continent.
We hope that this list will bring well-deserved recognition to those whose daily work, often in the shadows, helps transform the African blue economy.
