Ministerial Reshuffle in Gabon: A New Minister for Transport and Merchant Marine
The recent government reshuffle, announced on January 15, 2025, marked a turning point for the Ministry of Transport and Merchant Marine. This ministerial department, previously known as the “Ministry of Transport, Merchant Marine and Sea,” has been reorganized following the creation of a separate ministry dedicated to Fisheries and Sea, now headed by Cyrielle Zora Kassa.
In this context, Jonathan Ignoumba has been appointed Minister of Transport and Merchant Marine. He succeeds Captain Loïc Moudouma Ndinga, who managed this portfolio with commitment and dedication. This transition comes amid reforms aimed at improving the coordination of maritime, rail, and air activities, while addressing the country’s economic and logistical challenges.
The handover ceremony between the outgoing minister and the new holder of the Transport and Merchant Marine portfolio will be held today, Friday, January 17, 2025, at 4 PM. This symbolic ceremony will officially mark Jonathan Ignoumba’s assumption of office and will provide an opportunity to highlight the strategic priorities for this key ministry.
The new Minister of Transport and Merchant Marine is now expected to continue the efforts already undertaken while bringing new momentum to this vital sector for the Gabonese economy.
