The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) takes delivery of two new Damen ASD2813 tugs

On saturday 04 november 2023, the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) welcomed two new Damen ASD2813 tugs, christened as CAPT. EDWARD A. A. AWUVIRI and NESTOR PERCY GALLEY, which completed their journey from Haiphong, Vietnam to the port of Tema, Ghana. These tugs, part of Damen’s next generation designs, bring a range of new features designed to elevate safety, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.

The ASD Tug 2813, boasting a formidable bollard pull of approximately 85 tonnes, is equipped with pioneering technologies, including compliance with the 2020 stability regulations and preparedness for IMO Tier III requirements. These attributes ensure that the tugs meet the highest industry standards and but are well-equipped to handle a diverse array of towing operations.

Beyond their remarkable technical prowess, these tugs prioritize the comfort and well-being of their crew. Featuring MLC-compliant accommodations and a capacious aft deck spanning approximately 80m2, these vessels offer increased crew capacity and exceptional towing capabilities both fore and aft.
