Workshop to draft Gabon’s National Maritime Policy

On Wednesday 26 June 2024, Captain Dieudonné Loïc Ndinga Moudouma, Gabon’s Minister of Transport, Merchant Shipping and the Sea, presided over the opening ceremony of the workshop to draft Gabon’s National Maritime Policy.

This key 3-day event, which took place from 26 to 28 June 2024, brought together all the players in Gabon’s maritime sector to explore a number of key strategic issues for the future of Gabon’s national maritime policy. These themes include

  • Maritime governance
  • Training and scientific research
  • Maritime Economy
  • Maritime Defence
  • Maritime Safety; and
  • Environmental Protection.

This initiative reflects Gabon’s commitment to strengthening its position in the maritime sector. It aims to promote sustainable practices and support economic development through effective and responsible maritime management, as recommended by the President of the Transition, President of the Republic, Head of State, His Excellency Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
